A small team that got tired of rebuilding the same video pipeline.
Beamquay started as internal tooling. We were shipping a product with a lot of instructional video, and every few months someone rewrote the packaging scripts because a player somewhere had stopped behaving. Eventually it was obvious the tooling was more useful than the product.
We kept the shape of that internal tool on purpose. It does packaging and delivery, it does them predictably, and it does not try to become a media asset management system, a live studio or an advertising platform. There are excellent products for each of those and we are not competing with them.
Distributed, mostly European hours. Delivery infrastructure sits with several providers on purpose — a single provider outage should not be our outage.
